Step into history walks - Wentworth figures

Uncover some of the colourful histories of Wentworth Castle Gardens by joining a friendly volunteer-led walk.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Uncover some of the colourful histories of Wentworth Castle Gardens by joining a friendly volunteer-led walk.

The ‘Wentworth figures’ trilogy of walks will introduce you to the private owners of the estates from 1708 through to 1948, and the ways in which they shaped their home. During a gentle walk around different parts of the garden, you will discover the ambitions of each owner and how this translated into both planting and building.

Each walk will stand alone, or why not come to all three in the trilogy to build up a full picture of the Wentworth figures?

Accessibility

About 75% of the paths on these three walks are hard-standing. Some urban mobility scooters, buggies and wheelchairs might struggle to manage the whole route. However, the personal mobility scooters available to hire from Visitor Reception would be suitable. To book one or make further enquiries, please email wentworthcastlegardens@nationaltrust.org.uk.

Other

Each walk is approximately 1km, lasts 90 minutes and includes several stopping points around the gardens. Dogs are welcome but please keep on a short, fixed leash.
