Winter is the time for beachcombing!

Stormy seas and wild waves throw up the most interesting finds at this time of year. Join us in our exhibition at the Old Coastguard Station in Robin Hood's Bay to hear about how fossils were formed, find out about the different folk names the fossils have and what exactly a Devil’s Toenail really is. Then wrap up warm for a short, guided stroll on the beach looking for fossils and other treasures.

Refreshments available at the Old Coastguard Station.

£3.00 per child. Limited places, so booking is essential. Call 01947 885900.

(Please note: Sturdy footwear & appropriate outdoor clothing. A Bag to put any finds into. No fossil hammers required or permitted.

Meet upstairs in the Old Coastguard Station, The Dock, Robin Hoods Bay. No parking or car access in the lower village. Parking at Pay-and-display car parks at the top of the village.

The beach is accessed via a steep downhill walk through the village then a cobbled ramp or steps. Uneven surfaces on the beach.)

Fossil Forage

As part of the National Parks Dark Skies Festival, we will be hosting a night of Stargazing with the Whitby Astronomical Society at our Ravenscar Visitor Centre. Visitors will be able to listen an illustrated talk in the visitor centre before venturing out to view the star-filled sky.
Hot drinks and refreshments will be available to warm up. This promises to be an opportunity to experience Ravenscar in a completely different way. Fingers crossed for clear skies!

Enjoy a night of Stargazing with the National Trust and the Whitby Astronomical Society.

Dark Skies

Make your way along the trail and find activities for the whole family. The trail takes place between Friday 18th April to Monday 21st April, from, 10am - 2pm  with last entry at 2pm, so come along and explore the beautiful coastal scenery of Ravenscar. Prices are £3.50 per trail 
which includes an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg.

There will be 10 activities across the trail including seed planting, games and more.
