Malham Tarn cycle trail

Hop on your bike and explore Malham Moor on this family-friendly cycle trail. This circular route follows gravel tracks and country roads and takes in views of Malham Tarn.

Start point

Watersinks car park. Grid ref: SD 894 658

Step 1

Turn left out of Watersinks car park and follow the road to where the road turns right and stone tracks are straight ahead and to the left.

Step 2

Turn left and follow the gravel track. Go through the gate, following the track alongside Malham Tarn shore towards the woodland and Tarn House.

Step 3

At Tarn House follow the track to the right, round the back of the house and through the narrow limestone cutting. Keep going for about half a mile (0.8km).

Step 4

When you reach a track on your left with a post box in the wall, turn left and follow this lane along the edge of the nature reserve until you reach a gate. Go through the gate and turn left, heading down the road.

Step 5

Take the first left turn signposted to Malham and continue on this road for about half a mile (0.8km) until you reach a crossroads.

Step 6

Go left at the crossroads and follow the road back to the beginning.
