- Free parking on Cherry Lane (4 minutes walk). Free parking on the Knavesmire Road (20 minutes walk) - please note on race days this can get very busy. Pay and display car park near to Tesco supermarket on Tadcaster Road (15 minutes walk).
- By bus
- Take the number 4, 12 or 843 from opposite York train station and alight at the Marriott Hotel. Goddards is two doors away. These buses run approximately every 10 minutes.
Please note that the Park and Ride buses do not stop outside Goddards.

Bike racks are available at the rear of the house.

- Walking from the city centre, at York train station, turn right over the bridge and right again onto Blossom Street. Follow the road up and over The Mount and keep walking with the York racecourse on your left hand side. Pass the Marriott Hotel on your left and Goddards is two doors away. A good half an hour walk from the train station.

The doors are opening a day early this season for York residents. All you need is proof of address and ID for free entry into the garden on Saturday 28 February. York Residents’ Festival is open to all York Residents who have a valid YorkCard, student card or identity card that proves York residency. If presenting an identity card, this must clearly state 'York' (e.g. driving licence or older person's bus pass).

Garden
Five acres of garden rooms where the Terry family once lived. With formal terrace and pond, herbaceous borders, wildlife pond and historic glasshouse on the edge of York racecourse.
Kiosk
Hot and cold drinks and light snacks are available from the terrace. There are a few tables and chairs overlooking the garden or pick one of the garden benches for your takeaway refreshments. Card payments only.
Second-hand book sales
Drop by the sun room to find a new book with card donations accepted at the admissions till. Pre-loved books always appreciated to keep the shelves topped up. Thank you.
House
The house is a regional office for the charity and closed to visitors. This includes the car park, except for visitors requiring accessible parking. See 'Visitor information' for nearby parking options.

Stroll through the gardens at Goddards, a private haven on the outskirts of York, once owned by the Terry family. Discover scented herbaceous borders, formal ponds, orchard, kitchen garden and glasshouse. A haven for wildlife, framed by mature trees, and reflective of the original Arts and Crafts style design.

One of the last remaining high street shops, find a large range of National Trust goods including home ware, books and locally sourced food. The shop is open all year round and can be found close to York Minster.

Enjoy a light bite or take tea on the terrace...some of the treats are chocolate orange inspired of course. The kiosk is open to match garden opening times. Choose a takeaway if you want to head into the garden for a walk or to find a bench to perch or browse the second-hand books in the Sun Room.
Second-hand books
Goddards doesn't have a shop however the sun room on the terrace has been transformed into an area for second-hand books. Have a browse whilst waiting for your brew and find your next page turner. Donations of books are also appreciated and your support helps with the ongoing care of the garden.

About Goddards
Take time exploring the garden ‘rooms’ of the former home of the Terry family (think Chocolate Orange). Discover fragrant borders, wildlife areas, vegetable garden and the glasshouse. Soak up the sunshine on the terrace or on a garden bench enjoying the view with your takeaway refreshments.
The Terry factory clock tower can be seen from the paddock orchard overlooking the racecourse linking the chocolate heritage of York and the Terry family from their factory to their home.
Note: The house is also used as regional offices for the National Trust in Yorkshire.
