A pretty little 1930's inspired cottage on a hill at the heart of the Killerton Estate in Devon with beautiful views towards Ashclyst Forest.
Sitting on a country road, this former rector’s cottage is great for walkers and outdoor lovers, with its brilliant position on the Killerton Estate, but also close to the M5, making getting there and away really easy. Renovated to give a luxurious feel, this little lodge now sleeps 4, and has stunning parkland views.
Open the front door of this cottage, and you’ll be in the entrance hall, with a bespoke kitchen, separate dining room and cosy sitting room all off the hallway. There’s also a grand bathroom on the ground floor with a separate bath and shower. Head up the stairs to the two stunning bedrooms, one double and one twin (which can be made into a double on request). You’ll also find a separate WC. The upstairs bedrooms look out over the wonderful Killerton countryside and parkland. Outside there’s a small enclosed garden where you can enjoy the same wonderful countryside views.
The cottage sits on a country road on the Killerton Estate, right next door to Crabtree School House, another holiday cottage which sleeps 6. Both properties can be booked together if you’re travelling with a large family or group of friends. You’ll find the wonderful 18th-century Killerton House, shop and café just a 10 minute stroll away across the estate. Killerton itself offers 6,400 acres for you to explore, filled with miles of footpaths and cycle paths that cross historic parkland, formal gardens and a wider agricultural estate. You can hop on to the trails from the cottage doorstep, so it’s the perfect spot for outdoor lovers and walkers.
Once you’ve explored everything Killerton has to offer, then Broadclyst is the closest village to the cottage, where you’ll find a village shop, post office and pubs and restaurants. Beyond that, the vibrant and historic city of Exeter is just 20 minutes away by car with its bustling mix of independent and big name shops, bars, restaurants, pubs, cinemas and theatres. And if you’re keen to explore more of Devon, then why not head into the wilds of Dartmoor, or the beach at Exmouth or Sidmouth? And if you’re keen to explore more National Trust places, then head to Knightshayes, a Victorian country house.
