Originally believed to be stables, this early 18th-century barn offers a cosy and rustic stay. 1 Morville Barn is one of two halves of Morville Barn and can be booked with neighbouring 2 Morville Barn (sleeps five, dog friendly) for family or friends to come together, but enjoy having their own spaces at the end of the day.
The barn is part of a former farm on the north side of Morville Hall, a picturesque Elizabethan manor house which was remodelled in the 18th century giving it the appearance of a Georgian home. It's the perfect space to relax and unwind and makes an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.
The nearest town is Bridgnorth, with a vibrant high street offering lots of small independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Just a five-minute drive away is the medieval town of Much Wenlock, which is known to have inspired the modern Olympic Games, so follow the Olympian Trail through the town to find out more. Ironbridge, a world heritage site and the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, is about a 15-minute drive from the barn. For a great day out, head to Shrewsbury where you can explore Shrewsbury Castle, Charles Darwin’s home and the historic town centre that hosts lots of independent and artisan businesses.
It’s worth packing your walking shoes as there are plenty of paths and trails that start from the village of Morville. Dudmaston Estate is only a 10-minute drive from the barn and boasts a landscape of ancient woodlands, productive conifer plantations, brimming pools and trails that are perfect for biking and walking. For walks through the stunning Shropshire countryside head over to Wenlock Edge, or take on the challenge of walking to the top of the Long Mynd. The views from the top are well worth the effort.
