Bath Assembly Rooms is now open for explorer visits from 10am until 2.30pm - no need to book. Specialist guided tours available from 3pm. We recommend pre-booking guided tours as walk-up spaces are often limited.

Group bookings
We are unable to accommodate group bookings at this time. However, any groups looking to visit are encouraged to book as many spaces on the public guided tours as they would like. Please note that the capacity for a general admission tour is 15 people.
Highlights
Plans for the future
Work has begun on creating a Georgian experience that will transport visitors back to the social scene in the late eighteenth-century. Read more about the plans in the project article under the 'About' section.
Architecture
Designed by John Wood the Younger in 1769. Walk around the building and imagine promenading in your finery as people would have done in Georgian times.

The Bath Children’s Literature Festival 2024 will be taking place from 27 September – 6 October with many events hosted at Bath Assembly Rooms.
About Bath Assembly Rooms
Designed by John Wood the Younger, the Bath Assembly Rooms is a Grade 1 listed building that's a key part of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath. The New or Upper Rooms as they were known, provided a place for people to meet and enjoy daily entertainments including balls, concerts, teas and gambling. ‘Polite society’ flocked to the Assembly Rooms, including the novelists Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, and the painter Thomas Gainsborough.
The National Trust are currently working on a new visitor experience which will enable the Assembly Rooms to continue to be a place for assembly, connection and entertainment, welcoming in Bath’s visitors and residents. The full experience is currently due to open in 2026, but until then there will be special events, tours and programming at the Bath Assembly Rooms. Bath Assembly Rooms were at the heart of fashionable Georgian society, the perfect venue for entertainment. When completed in 1771, they were described as 'the most noble and elegant of any in the kingdom'.
