World Poetry Day writing workshop with Tom Branfoot

This World Poetry Day workshop led by Manchester Cathedral’s writer-in-residence Tom Branfoot will look at the work of Peter Gizzi and his idea of lyric reality to focus on questions underpinning our age.

Modern poetry is fascinated by the everyday, incorporating the minutiae of daily life into the poem and dismantling the myth of art being distinct from life. What happens then when climate change shapes our daily lives, when we live with climate grief and alongside natural disasters? How do we write about blossom, landscape and weather when we live inside that damage and participate in systems contributing to carnage?

This World Poetry Day workshop led by Manchester Cathedral’s writer-in-residence Tom Branfoot will look at the work of Peter Gizzi and his idea of lyric reality to focus on questions underpinning our age.

It is aimed at more advanced writers. Places are limited to 15. To book your space or ask any questions, email tom.branfoot@manchestercathedral.org
