Godolphin Riverside walk

An easy walk along the banks of the River Hayle near Godolphin, full of wildflowers, tin mining history and a great spot for summer picnics.

Start point

Godolphin main car park; grid reference: SX 559 319 ; what3words: ///quit.warms.casually

Step 1

From the car park, turn left along the track, walking to the top past the barns on the right.

Step 2

Once at the top of this track turn right onto Vane's Lane, part of the medieval road from the Domesday manor of Trescowe to Breage churchtown. Go through the first gate on the left into Far Mill Field.

Step 3

Follow the path down the field, beside the hedge. Go through two gates to emerge onto the road.

Step 4

Turn right, bear left at the junction and cross Godolphin Bridge. Take the bridleway on the right and then the waymarked path on the right, over the footbridge.

Step 5

Turn left and follow the path beside the River Hayle.

Step 6

At the ford, turn sharp right up the track to reach the main road. Turn left and follow the road for 150m (beware of fast traffic, and cross with care), until you reach the turning on the right to the Godolphin carpark. Continue up the track and follow signs to main Godolphin site to finish this walk in the Piggery tea-room.
