The Allegri Singers
The Allegri Singers return to Ightham Mote singing Madrigals in the Courtyard.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
The Allegri Singers, a Chamber Choir based in the Bromley area, performs an adventurous repertoire to the highest standard.
They will be performing madrigals; songs of love, lust, rejection, betrayal, music, and praise of Oriana (Queen Elizabeth1) that could be called the ‘Pop’ songs of the reigns of Queen Elizabeth I and King James I. They were sung at festive occasions at court, but also in the private residences of wealthy patrons.
They have remained popular to this day, and the choir will sing the most beautiful of them all, ‘The Silver Swan’ by Gibbons.
What better place to sing, or listen to, Madrigals than the atmospheric courtyard of Ightham Mote on a Summer afternoon?
