Vita's Amazing Technicolour Manuscript: Nowruz Celebrations Talk

Join academic Jaimee Comstock-Skipp for a free event diving into a recently conserved 19th century illuminated manuscript of Yusuf u Zulaykha in our collection.

  • Admission applies

Climb past Vita Sackville-West's writing room to the second floor of Sissinghurst's famous tower for this fascinating talk as part of our celebrations of the Iranian New Year 'Nowruz'.

During their travels in 1920s Iran, Vita and Harold collected many items from Persian history to bring back to Sissinghurst. One of these items was a manuscript copy of Yusuf and Zulaykha, a mystical love story composed in the early 1570s, and one recently conserved.

Join academic Jaimee Comstock-Skipp as she shares her research on this exciting object, both it's story and how the manuscript made its way from Central Asia in the 1570s to England in the 1920s, 350 years later.

This event is free to attend, please note normal site admission charges apply.
