Conservation in Action

Have you ever wondered how our team cares for Hill Top and the objects Beatrix Potter left to the National Trust?

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Join our collections team in the spare room to see their conservation in action.

Find out more about the techniques the team use as they check, catalogue and clean objects from the Beatrix Potter collection that aren’t normally on display.

On 22 April, Lucy, an Accredited Conservation Specialist who specialises in Natural History, will visit the bedroom to examine the Specimen Cabinet that originally belonged to Beatrix and her brother Bertram. This item is on loan from the Beatrix Potter Society.

Our conservation efforts will primarily be upstairs in Hill Top. We regret that this work will not be accessible to all, but our team is always happy to talk to you about what we're doing if you can't access our upstairs rooms.

Other

Don't forget to scan your membership or pay for entry at the reception just off the car park before heading up to Hill Top. You need your token for entry.
