- Free event
The winter solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year, heralding the beginning of true winter. This auspicious day has been celebrated for hundreds of years with storytelling and merry-making. This year, National Trust and Ribble Rivers Trust have teamed up to deliver a day of festive activities.
We will be using natural willow whips to create willow wreaths, using natural materials to decorate them. There will also be a variety of other crafts and activities available such as Christmas tree decorating, nature-themed colouring, gnome/elf making, and badge making.
