Folklore and River Tales
Join us on Saturday 21 December for a candle-lit walk up to the walled garden, refreshments by the fire followed by a range of folklore tales.
- Booking not needed
- Free event
The winter solstice marks the shortest day and the longest night of the year, heralding the beginning of true winter. This auspicious day has been celebrated for hundreds of years with storytelling and merry-making. This year, Ribble Rivers Trust and the National Trust have teamed up to deliver a day of festive activities.
The event will begin with a candle-lit walk up to the walled garden. From there, you will be greeted by a warm firepit, food, refreshments, such as mulled cider and roasted marshmallows. You will then hear a range of tales exploring the relationship between rivers and the beings of myth and legend, ranging from global, national, and local to our own Ribble river. We will also explore how you can help protect rivers and our national heritage sites for the future.
