National Trust London is collaborating with Glitch, an innovative AR platform encouraging local biodiversity and urban greening to bring blossom trees to younger and more diverse audiences as part of the 2025 Festival of Blossom.

About Glitch

Glitch is a pioneering platform from Nowadays on Earth from that users AI, machine learning algorithms, augmented reality (AR), and LIDAR to create a world-building game where you can plant a range of edible, floral and fictional AR plants whilst looking at your urban landscape through your phone. The aim is to help you imagine what could be planted in your area, whilst learning about local biodiversity, the importance of grassroots action, how to build nature skills and networks, how to transform grey urban spaces for people, plants and pollinators. It’s a hands-on way of making gardening accessible and fun for younger and more diverse groups, aiming to grow a new wave of gardeners to future-proof cities and building nature skills and networks to bring communities together.

National Trust x Glitch for Festival of Blossom 2025

We're working in collaboration with Glitch to create AI/AR-powered digital blossom trees in Glitch, offering an immersive and educational experience that highlights the ecological and cultural significance of blossom trees to people in the urban enviroment. Through the accesible digital platform, you'll be able to:

  • explore detailed 3D models of five different blossom species, designed with seasonal variations and interactive elements that simulate the natural changes of real blossom trees.

  • learn about the ecological significance of blossom trees, their cultural symbolism, and take part in mindfulness exercises that promote nature connection.

  • explore an interactive map showcasing real-life blossom locations across National Trust places in London, the London borough of Lewisham, and gardens created in collaboration with TFL during the Festival of Blossom 2025.

Glitch will be launched at a special event the National Trust London team in April include a blossom photography gallery, film screenings centred around blossom, an interactive ‘playspace’ to explore Glitch, and a panel discussion on the future of urban greening, equitable access to greenspaces and the uses of soft technology within gardening with industry professionals from across tech and urban growing initiatives. Check back here soon for a link to try the platform once it's launched.
