A stairmate stairclimber is available for booking to assist with access into the Saloon and Central Hall.
Please book one ticket per stairclimber user. You are welcome to arrive at any point up to 10 minutes before the end of your timeslot.
Use of the stairclimber is free with your membership or standard admission. Please book your ticket so we can ensure staff availability to support with its use.
Please note that due to the nature of this equipment, for safety reasons the Stairmate Major cannot operate in wet weather. In the event of this on the day of your booking please call us on 0191 237 9100 to discuss rearranging. Thank you.

Please meet the staff team at the base of the South Steps of the Entrance Hall, next to the South Lawn. You are welcome to arrive at any point up to 10 minutes ahead of the end of your timeslot.
- What to bring and wear
The Saloon and Central Hall are cold and unheated. Please wear warm, layered clothing.
- Accessibility
A level entrance is available into the Basement. Please note that the stairclimber is for access to the ground levels of the Saloon and Central Hall only. It does not provide admission to the West Wing.
