Castle Coole Lake Walk

Take a pleasant, gentle walk around the tranquil Lough Coole, where you'll spot a variety of wildlife. Along the way you'll have views of the grand mansion and discover traces of the past at the site where the Queen Anne House once stood.

There's a bench at the edge of Lough Coole where you can stop and soak up the tranquil views.

Start point

Visitor car park

Step 1

Start from the visitor car park and take the path on the right past the play park. This passes the site of the original Queen Anne House. At the pump house, turn right and follow the path around the lake.

Step 2

Shortly after the pump house, a gravel path to your left reaches the shore of the Lough. Take a stroll down and see if you can spot the resident swans before returning to the path and continuing your walk.

Step 3

At this point, catch glimpses of views of the house across the lake. Continue on the path, taking a left at the main exit road and another once that reaches the drive. Continue on up the hill to return to the visitor car park.
