Helios and Stargazing with the Athenaeum Astronomy Association
Join the Athenaeum Astronomy Association on our late night opening of the Helios art installation to gaze up at the stars and learn all about the wonders of the universe.

Inspired by the Victorian observatory and its telescope on the roof of Bury St Edmund's historic Athenaeum building, the Association is open to amateur observers of all ages and abilities and is joining our late night opening.

Please pre-book your ticket for Helios through separate event article.
- Suitability
Children are welcome. Under 5s go free and do not need a booking.
- Meeting point
The stargazing activity will be based on the North Lawn, along the route of the viewing of Helios.
- What to bring and wear
The event takes place outside so be prepared for all weathers.
- Accessibility
The route is a short walk across gravel so some manual wheelchairs may find this challenging. There is very little incline to manage.
- Other
To ensure the safety of the artwork and the public, if wind speeds are forecast to exceed 23mph, the artwork will be temporarily taken down and will not be accessible to visitors. If we know that wind speeds are going to be high, we will do our best to inform you via our website for the latest information before travelling.
