Lamb House has a long history of inspiring writers and artists who have come to visit.
Every Saturday during the Rye Arts Festival, join our volunteers in the courtyard room for readings of the works of our famous residents. These will include:
- 'Mapp and Lucia' by E. F. Benson (recently celebrated on the Queen’s Reading List!)
- 'Portrait of a Lady' by Henry James
- 'Black Narcissus' by Rumer Godden
Readings will run throughout the day lasting between 10 and 20 minutes.

Please collect your entry tickets at Visitor Reception and meet in the courtyard room at Lamb House. This room can be accessed through the garden.
- What to bring and wear
Access to the room is through the garden, so please wear weather-appropriate clothing on the day.

Lamb House is accessible up a set of shallow steps.
