Whether you enjoy the best in Welsh and British produce, or have a passion for homemade cakes, there’s something for all tastes at Chirk Castle. With a variety of items to browse in the shop and a second-hand bookshop, it’s just the place for book lovers to spend some quality time.

Courtyard Tearoom

Situated in the West Wing, with overflow seating in the Distil Tower (Northwest Tower) and outdoors in the Courtyard, the tea-room occupies a space that has once housed a Tudor range and served the State Dining Room in the main castle. Today you can enjoy a variety of hot and cold dishes from our seasonal menu.

We buy local and Fairtrade products wherever possible, and all our cakes and treats are baked daily by our own baker. With savoury snacks, tasty cakes, cream teas and local ice cream, there's something for everyone, and always something new to try.

Allergen information

Most of the food and drink served is prepared on site in our kitchen, using a wide range of ingredients. As a result, we can’t guarantee that any of our food and drink products are completely allergen free.

If you have an allergy or intolerance and would like ingredient information about the food and drink served, please ask the staff, who will be happy to help.

Always check when you visit

Visited before? We sometimes change our recipes to improve quality and flavour, including the ingredients. When you visit, please speak to one of our team to check the current allergen information for your favourite dish.

Home Farm Kiosk

The Home Farm Kiosk is situated in the Home Farm area, close to the Ticket Office, and serves hot drinks, ice creams and hot and cold snacks. With ample outdoor seating it’s a great place to stop for a break as the kids explore our playground, or why not pick up a hot drink or tasty snack to take with you as you explore our vast estate?

Home Farm Kiosk is open seasonally, please see opening times for details.

We rely on donations to stay well stocked and our team will be delighted to receive small boxes in the Gift Shop. If you wish to deliver a large amount, please contact in advance so a member of staff can be on hand to help you.

The Courtyard Shop

The seasonal shop is also located in the castle courtyard in the old south range 'Boot Room'. This smaller shop is a great place to browse some of the more unique and playful stock that we sell.

Visiting Chirk Castle

Chirk Castle was never planned as a family home. It was one of several medieval Marcher fortresses along the Welsh-English border, built to keep the Welsh under English rule.
