Ranger led bug hunt at Chirk Castle
Join our ranger team this February half term to learn more about the creepy crawlies living at Chirk Castle.

On 25 and 26 February, join our friendly rangers for a fun-filled bug hunt. Get ready to search high and low for all sorts of incredible insects. From bugs with shiny wings and tiny spots to those with long, wiggly antennae, how many can you find? It’s the perfect way to learn all about the tiny creatures that live around us.
This 40-minute session, aimed at children, takes place in the Pleasure Ground Wood at Chirk Castle.
Session details:
- 25 & 26 February: 11am & 2pm
- Sessions are on a first-come, first-served basis, with space for 20 children per session (accompanying adults welcome).
- Free activity, but normal admission prices apply. Free entry to National Trust members and under 5s.

- What to bring and wear
This event takes place in the Pleasure Ground Wood in the garden which can get muddy. We recommend wrapping up warm in old clothing and wearing wellies or similar.
- Accessibility
All registered assistance dogs are welcome in the gardens. Our visitor shuttlebus runs from the Ticket Office, up the steep hill to the Castle. There is a step-free route of the garden. Please contact us to borrow and reserve a wheelchair or to hire our Tramper. There is uneven ground in the Pleasure Ground Wood.
