The Mineyard and Treasures of Pumsaint exhibition are open and the underground tours will return soon.
The mines at Dolaucothi are home to many bats. The process of completing this year’s bat report is ongoing and due to be completed soon. When this reaches its completion, underground tours will restart.
To ensure that you can still delve into Dolaucothi’s history, the mineyard and the new Treasures of Pumsaint exhibition in the Field Centre are open – 2000 year old Roman artefacts on display for the first time. There’s also a guided walk at 11am and 2pm on open days.

With over 2,500 acres of estate, woodland, farms and parkland to explore, there’s so much more to Dolaucothi in Carmarthenshire than the Roman mines.
Dolaucothi is a two pawprint rated place. Dogs are welcome everywhere at Dolaucothi, from the tours of the Roman gold mine to the miles of footpaths to explore across the wider estate.
Gold mining at Dolaucothi started at least 2,000 years ago and ended just before the Second World War. Find out more about the UK’s only known Roman gold mine.
