Whether you’re getting back into fitness after a break, or want to try something new, Parkrun’s 5K at Penrhyn Castle could be just the thing. Enjoy a run in amazing surroundings.

Parkrun at Penrhyn Castle

Penrhyn Castle hosts parkrun at 9am sharp, every Saturday morning. Parkrun is a great opportunity to enjoy views of Snowdonia and the surrounding landscape whilst running the 5K route around the grounds. It’s also a chance to meet new people and have fun in the great outdoors.

Parkrun for everyone

Each parkrun is free to take part in and everyone, regardless of age or ability is welcome (under 11s must run with a responsible adult). You can run, jog or walk the undulating 5K course at your own pace; run individually, with a friend or with your family. Well trained dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on a lead.

Register online

Parkrun asks that you register online in advance here and then you can take part in any parkrun whenever you like. You can track your time from week to week and set your own personal goals. Remember to bring a scannable copy of your barcode for your run.

Parkrun is organised by volunteers, who do an amazing job and are always looking for more people to make sure that each week is a success. You can find information on how to help on their webpage above.

The route

Parkrun at Penrhyn Castle consists of two big loops and two smaller loops around the castle. The big loop heads off down the main drive then swings right along a track that runs up to the walled garden. From there, stay on the track which runs up past the brick stable and along to the main castle entrance.

The small loop swings right at the main castle entrance, down past the walled garden then up past the brick stable and along to the main castle entrance and the finish. Each loop is completed twice.

'Parkrun at Penrhyn has something for everyone: families, walkers, joggers and regular runners. You go at your own pace and only challenge yourself – it’s like your own private 5K race.  It is a really friendly and welcoming event.  And it’s free!'
