Celebrate the festive season with a range of magical events at Powis Castle and Garden. From a Dickensian Christmas, inspired by A Christmas Carol to special appearances by Father Christmas, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. `

Opening times:

  • A Dickensian Christmas, 30 November to 5 January, 11am to 4pm.
  • Breakfast with Father Christmas, 30 November, 1 December, 7 December, 8 December and 15 December, 8.45am to 10.45am.
  • Courtyard Christmas Illuminations and Late-Night Opening, 13 to 23 December, 4.30pm to 7pm.

Traditional Festivities: A Dickensian Christmas

Step into a world of festive wonder and celebrate Christmas in a truly Dickensian style! From 30 November to 5 January, the first floor of the castle will transform into a charming Victorian wonderland, inspired by Charles Dickens' classic, A Christmas Carol. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and traditions of a 19th-century Christmas as flickering candlelight, evergreen garlands, and nostalgic holiday scenes transport you back in time.

As you explore the beautifully decorated halls and rooms, you’ll feel as though you’ve entered a heartwarming Victorian Christmas.

Tickets for the Dickensian Christmas can be purchased at the Visitor Reception at the Car Park and are free for National Trust members.

Special Treats for Little Ones: Breakfast with Father Christmas

Younger visitors aer in for a magical treat! On select dates (30 November, 1 December, 7 December, 8 December, and 15 December), Father Christmas will make a special appearance at Powis Castle for a festive breakfast. Held in the enchanting café and library; this cosy morning event offers children the chance to share stories with Santa, enjoy delicious breakfast treats, and create cherished holiday memories.

Spaces are limited, so be sure to book in advance. Prices are £20.95 per child (ages 2 and over), £5.95 per child under 2, and £16.95 per adult.

Mesmerising Lights: A Spectacle Not to Be Missed

From 13 to 23 December, Powis Castle will light up the night in a dazzling display of festive lights, transforming the castle’s grand exterior into a breathtaking winter wonderland. With extended hours from 4.30pm – 7pm, visitors can experience the magic after dark as the twinkling lights illuminate the majestic architecture against the winter sky.

The Courtyard will be ticketed, with tickets available from Visitor Reception in the car park. Admission costs the same as regular entry and is free to National Trust members.
