Drawing Class: Upton House Interiors

Lizzie Bentley leads this fun drawing class amidst the galleries at Upton House and inspired by its world-class collection of European art.

  • Booking essential

In each session, you will look closely at the drawings of interiors by a selection of well-known artists. You will discuss and come to understand the various techniques the artists have used, for example, composition, depth, distance and perspective. You will also explore how artists create atmosphere and narrative in drawings as well as the difference between a technical drawing and a personal drawing of a room/interior and then go on to try them out for yourself guided by Lizzie. Combining one-to-one tuition with the supportive ethos of small group discussion, each class will give you the unique opportunity to develop your interior drawing skills, with dedicated time for hands-on practice in Upton's inspiring gallery spaces. Spaces limited to 4 per class. No previous experience is needed. Whether you picked up a pencil last week, or you haven't picked up a pencil for years, this class is for everyone. All art materials, including drawing boards and donkey easels are provided. If you would like to attend all four of the classes that make up the course, you will need to book all four of the dates available. You are also welcome to attend classes on a one-off basis.

Lizzie did her Fine Art degree at The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art followed by tuition at the Royal Drawing School and Heatherley School of Fine Art, London. She exhibits regularly and as well as drawing she paints with oils - landscapes and still life.
