Tai chi and QiGong at Upton House and Gardens
Join Ben Smith and Jon Day from the British Tai Chi Academy to discover the ancient, meditative Chinese art of Tai Chi and QiGong in these weekly classes suitable for beginners and all levels of fitness.

Combining non-impact, gentle movement, meditation, slow breathing and balanced postures, Tai Chi and QiGong is often described as a form of moving meditation.
Health benefits include improved co-ordination, concentration and emotional wellbeing.
Ben and Jon both trained and now instruct with Peter Fletcher at the British Tai Chi Academy. Each week they will guide you step-by-step through the gentle QiGong and Tai Chi movements. Depending on the weather classes will take place in the Quiet Orchard, a dedicated Silent Space, or inside Upton's Squash Court Gallery space.
Please arrive by 12:45pm ready to start promptly at 1pm. Ben and Jon will meet you at Visitor Reception and lead the class to the venue.
Price: £48 per person for 4 consecutive classes, starting on the date on your ticket, held every Wednesday 1-2pm, bookable in advance. The course dates for each 4-week bookable block are: 16 April, 23 April, 30 April, 7 May 14 May, 21 May, 28 May, 4 June 11, 18, 25 June, 2 July 9, 16, 23, 30 July 6, 13, 20, 27 August 3, 10, 17, 24 September
Or £14 per class if paying on the day. These sessions are suitable for all capabilities aged 16+ years.

Meet Ben and Jon at Visitor Reception at 12.45pm ready to start the class at 1pm.
- What to bring and wear
Wear comfortable clothing and footwear and bring water to drink. Bring a sunhat and sunscreen for the warm, dry days when the class will be held outside in the Orchard.
- Accessibility
There is level access to the Quiet Orchard and the Squash Court Gallery. A buggy service is available for anyone unable to walk the 300 yards from Visitor Reception. Disabled parking is available in the visitor car park. Some disabled parking is also available close to the house. Please let Upton or the instructor know of any access requirements in advance.

For more information about the Tai Chi classes, email uptonhouse@nationaltrust.org.uk or telephone 01295 670266. All bookings online are for 4 consecutive classes from and including the date listed. Classes take place every Wednesday, 1-2pm. It is not possible to book a single class in advance. The price for one class is £14 payable on the day on arrival at Visitor Reception.
