Exhibition talks: International Women's Day
Drop in to listen, learn, and take part in a thought-provoking conversation about art, history, and the legacy of women artists.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Join us for an informal drop-in event on International Women’s Day, as we welcome acclaimed sculptor Rebecca Stevenson to Beningbrough to talk about her incredible work.
Rebecca’s work, Mary, Maria, Marianne, is currently on display in the Great Hall and was created in response to the extraordinary achievements of Mary Delany (1700–1788), Maria Sibylla Merian (1647–1717), and Marianne North (1830–1890)—three pioneering women artists. She will share the techniques behind her striking figurative sculptures and how historical enquiry influences her work.
Rebecca will be chatting with Senior National Curator Rachel Conroy, author of Women Artists & Designers of the National Trust. Rachel’s book explores the lives and work of women whose creativity has shaped the National Trust's collections. Spanning six centuries, her book takes a closer look at some of the women artists and designers whose lives are connected to National Trust places.
The book is available to purchase in the gift shop and at Admissions before the event (if the shop is closed).
Book your slot on the day, spaces will be available on a first come, first served basis. Speak to the welcome team on arrival.
