February half term: Magic of Trees
Get set for a week off school, we're open every day for the local half term holidays.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Grab a trail sheet and become a tree detective on the Magic of Trees trail. As you explore the gardens, look out for the 8 leaf symbols on the trees, gather the scores and record your findings on the Top Tree Trumps chart.
Can you find the hardy Yew, playful Horse Chestnut, healing Ash and mighty Oak trees? Find out which tree the caterpillars and moths must enjoy munching on and look up high for signs of woodpeckers and owls.
Venture down the woodland path to the Wilderness Play Area, where adventure awaits. Build your own hideout in the den zone, climb the stacks, cross the rope bridge to the slides, or swing high on the pendulum swing – perfect for thrill-seekers. Little ones can enjoy tunnels, balance beams, a Wendy House, and a mini clamber stack for smaller legs. Accessible bucket swings ensure fun for everyone.
Keep your tree detective hat on as you explore the Hall, spotting images of trees and wooden objects – you’ll be surprised how many you find.
If it rains, come inside to the Hall. Explore The Botanical World of Mary Delany art exhibition to see how many spring flowers you can spot and practice your paper folding techniques in the colourful origami room.
Head to the restaurant if you are in need of a hot chocolate to warm up after your adventure.
