Spin the Wheel of Woe to find out which job you might have had as one of the Cheerless Children living in Georgian times, including rat catcher, chimney sweep and miner.

Before your visit

• The trail runs from 17 February-31 August 2025 with trail stations positioned around the house, garden and parkland.
• Trail free with normal property admission (free for National Trust members).
• Gardens open from 10am-5pm (4pm in winter), last admission one hour before closing.
• House open Wednesday to Sunday 11am-4pm (3pm in winter), last entry 30 minutes before closing. Please note on Mondays and Tuesdays when the house is shut, the Servants Hall will remain open so visitors can access the indoor trail points.
• Please use the buggy park to park buggies and pushchairs before entering the house.
• Outside trail is widely accessible and buggy friendly. Please be aware the ‘preserve corps’ area can be uneven in places. Read more about accessibility here.
• The Stables Café located in the Tudor Courtyard with plenty of delicious food and has both indoor and outdoor seating areas.
• There is overflow car park availability if the main car park is full on arrival.
• Accessible via public transport. 15-minute walk from Osterley Tube station (Piccadilly Line). 22-minute walk from Isleworth railway station.
