The Creatures of Dinefwr Christmas tree will host eight new decorations, adding to the amazing web of creatures that can be found at Dinefwr; sparkly swan mussels, a little egret and a vole are just some of the new creatures joining the pack. 

Wildlife and wilderness will be strewn throughout the house, truly brining the outside in. The Inner Hall will hold huge thistle sculptures, created by four amazing community groups, and giant nettles will drape from the ceiling. The overarching theme will be Winter Sparkle, with delightful, surprising sparkle intertwining all elements of our decoration. 

Santas Grotto will be hosted in the Drawing Room this year, for pre booked Father Christmas visits every Sunday from 1st Decemebr. Outside of these days Santas Grotto will remain open for visitors to take a peek at the magical setting. 

The Basement will be where visitors can find some cheeky Christmas activities. Dressing up in the Brushing Room, craft activities in the Butler Pantry, you can hear the elves working in their workshop as you walk through the corridor, and there will be Christmas films on every day in the Ale Cellar. 

The café will be bursting with foliage creating the best backdrop whilst you relax and have a bite to eat in the café, and the open fire will be roaring every day.

Book your slot to meet Santa and get an early Christmas gift. 

This year the Drawing Room will be transformed in to a magical grotto, where Santa can keep an eye on his reindeer in the Deer Park. The house will be decorated for Christmas, with lots of beauty, delight and a few surprises for those who believe.

Each time slot may have up to eight children and their families.

Join us for a warming drink, music, and a mischievous Mari. When Mari and her group get to Newton House, they will sing Welsh language songs or wassails, and indulge in a ritual called pwnco: an exchange of rude rhymes with the person who lives there. If the Mari and her gang get entry, the household is said to have good luck for the year. The Mari is well-known to be mischievous – trying to steal things and the chase people she likes – as she goes about her bidding.


Join us for mischief and fun!

One of the most well-known Welsh customs is the Mari Lwyd, meaning 'Grey Mare', a horse-figure carried from door to door by wassail-singing groups during the Christmas season, come and see her cause her usual mischief at Dinefwr.
