Gorymdaith y Gwanwyn is an opportunity to PROMENADE, to take a stroll in public and show off! A fun spectacle of colour, costume, music, dance and sound at Dinefwr, near Llandeilo for everyone to join in with and celebrate spring.
Dinefwr is the perfect setting for a Spring Promenade. Come along in your Sunday best and flowery finery to celebrate all that spring can bring. Gorymdaith takes place on Sul y Blodau, a day where traditionally graves of loved ones were cleaned and adorned with flowers, often people would wear their best clothes or have new clothes for the occasion.
Artist Ren Wolfe, who is inspired by puppetry, folklore and theatre, has worked with Dinefwr on this project. During the parade there’ll be an unveiling of their costumes and creations that form part of Gorymdaith y Gwanwyn.
The finale will be an event in itself, a performance of Mari Ha! Osian Meilir’s new dance performance. A folkloric exploration of some of Wales’ oldest traditions, bringing together the solstices and equinoxes, the Mari Lwyd and the Cadi Ha in an energetic contemporary dance performance for the outdoors.
Gorymdaith y Gwanwyn is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our parkland and estate. This playful celebration of spring, flowers, birds and their nesting habits holds Welsh landscape and culture at its heart, raising awareness of bio-diversity and the cycles of the natural world as well as the unique identities of our locality and communities.
