Planning your family visit

Here’s the information you need at a glance to help plan your next day out at Erddig:

  • Toilets and baby-changing facilities are located in the Midden Yard. Additional composting toilets are located in Wolf’s Den, our natural play area.
  • Pushchairs are only permitted throughout the house's lower ground floor, which is fully accessible with level stone floors. Pushchairs can also be left at the house's entrance.
  • Please note that dogs are not permitted inside the house, garden, shop, hayloft restaurant, or the Wolf’s Den natural play area. The only exception to this policy is registered assistance dogs.

Winter at Erddig

Winter is a delightful time for families to visit Erddig Hall and Garden, where there’s plenty to enjoy, regardless of the weather. Wrap up warm and head out to explore the garden, setting fun challenges to see who can run the fastest down the pleached limes.

Walking around the 1,200-acre estate is an excellent way to engage in several of the '50 Things to Do Before You’re 11¾' activities’. Kids can get to know a tree, skim stones at the riverbanks and play Pooh sticks from the bridges. Along the way, keep an eye out for the elusive green woodpecker, known for its vibrant plumage, adding an element of excitement to wildlife spotting.

Families can step back in time inside the 17th-century stately home. Discover the relationship between the Yorke family and their servants as you explore the servants quarters and estate workshops. Admire the unique collection of portraits and poems, offering a unique window into Erddig's past.
