Lower Brockhampton manor house is celebrating its 600th anniversary in 2025 by reviving the medieval tradition of illustrated calendars, showcasing the "Labours of the Month which are the seasonal tasks of everyday working people.
Shrovetide was a time for feasting and merriment in the Medieval period before lent began on Ash Wednesday. People went shroving (singing door to door), dancing, feasting and playing games. Celebrate the historic holiday at Brockhampton with games from 600 years ago to play and costumes to wear in the Great Hall along with medieval recipes to use up your forbidden foods in time for lent.
