In 2024, West Wales based birder, Branwen Munn undertook an exciting challenge in her free time. A year-long quest to see (or hear) as many species of bird as possible in all corners of the UK from East Anglia, the Cairngorms and Cumbria to Wales and the Southeast. Visiting different habitats and encountering different weather conditions throughout the year, Branwen’s aim was to identify as many species of bird as possible photographing, blogging and vlogging as she went. Find out about her adventure, the birds and places she documented and the people she met along the way. This Sgwrs is part of the Gorymdaith y Gwanwyn (Spring Promenade) project. Join the promenade as part of Gorymdaith y Gwanwyn on Sunday 13 April at Dinefwr, meet at 1:45pm to parade at 2pm. Gorymdaith y Gwanwyn is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our parkland and estate. This playful celebration of spring, flowers, birds and their nesting habits holds Welsh landscape and culture at its heart, raising awareness of bio-diversity and the cycles of the natural world as well as the unique identities of our locality and communities.
A visit to Dinefwr includes the magnificent Newton House and its garden, sat within a historic nature-rich parkland, adjacent to the ancient Deer Park and Dinefwr Castle. Within the house there are three floors to explore, including a series of exhibitions, the café and second-hand bookshop.
